Ciaowdy!!

Today was a cozy rainy day, continuing the on pour from yesterday afternoon. It was our last day for all the Italy Fish in Castiglion Fiorentino. Some people attended mass at various local churches while others went to do their laundry. Don’t worry, nothing turned pink. Others used the morning to go grocery shopping or buy last minute gifts and souvenirs. In fact, someone bought 4 bottles of olive oil. Many took the opportunity to relax and catch up on lost sleep. We all met up for lunch at one of the only places that’s still open during the daily riposo (siesta), Il Drago. There was more free time afterwards where some people went to the second round of cheese tasting and others worked on thank you notes to all the people that made this trip possible.

At 5:30, the 4th annual talent show began with an introduction from MC Faris: The Baddie. It started with a lovely competition to determine the best way to de-hair a kiwi. We voted that using a tweezer was more effective than using an actual razor (#aggielogic). There were 21 acts, with some stars appearing multiple times. The acts ranged from group dances, to unpacking a fanny pack (aka the hydration holster), to balancing chairs on Ben’s chin. We also had a group perform a parody of the sea shanty “drunken sailor” in tune with our winter survival exercises from Assisi.  Needless to say, it was everyone’s favorite act, although there were technically no winners. Afterwards, we all received superlative paper plate awards which Erin and the student leaders bestowed upon us. Our personal favorite award was Aaron’s, who won the “guy you’d want to take home to your mom” award.

After thanking the hotel staff and the Santa Chiara coordinators, Sharon and Garnette, we took the trek to Coco Palm to savor our last gelato night in CF. We sloshed through the rain back to the hotel for an early curfew in order to wake up for our three-arches sunrise hike. Everyone is sad to say goodbye to CF, but we all can’t wait to go to Venice for our next adventure!

Grazie e gig ‘em!
