Buongiorno! Bright and early everyone headed down to enjoy another morning cappuccino along with all the other delicacies laying out. With a slow start we all rushed out of the hotel to catch our train to Florence… only to be met with a 15 minute delay. After great patience, we all boarded excited for a nap and to spend our money on the notorious markets.

As soon as the train stopped, our entire group, 30 large, stampeded off the train. All of us rushed to the different shops and stores all along the streets of Florence. We quickly headed to the crowded market teeming with people, where we found a variety of food and leather goods. A few of the groups found small restaurants within the market to grab a quick bite to eat. Then we filled our hands with purses, bags, wallets, t-shirts, Gucci shoes, and whatever else piqued our interest (which was quite a lot).

In the afternoon, all the groups met back up for our tour of the Accademia. Of course, everyone quickly headed to check out Michelangelo’s David and stood in awe at its size and detail. The statue, completely made out of marble, stands seventeen feet tall and is lit perfectly by a skylight in the museum. Many people stopped and took some pictures by David as well. The groups then moved on to the next portion of the museum that held a collection of instruments, ranging from pianos, violins, cellos, flutes, and more. Once the whole museum had been explored, of course everyone took a quick stop at the gift shop and then headed out to further explore Florence.

When five-o’clock rolled around, everyone tiredly loaded on to the train to head back to Hotel Park. We all quickly found seats and sat down for a much needed break. We were greeted at the hotel with another tasty three course meal, ending our night with a delicious surprise desert which was a sweet end to a long day. Many of us then headed down for some late night soccer or basketball before bed. And now we’re ready for Arezzo tomorrow!
