Ciaowdy!

Today was our second day in Florence and it was so much fun because the whole day was spent on our own! We were able to pick which train we rode to and from Florence, as well as where to eat lunch and what museums to visit. Each of us got to customize our day and we definitely benefitted from the added independence.

Some of us left on the early train in order to hike to Piazzale Michelangelo and see the gorgeous city view! It was exhausting, but totally worth it to overlook Florence and take lots of pictures (Jake taught us how to “power gig” for added picture pizazz). Others left slightly later to visit the Medici Chapels before meeting at the Uffizi for a guided tour. Learning about the history of artwork while taking in the incredible architecture and paintings was such a unique, wonderful experience!

Along the way, we got to meet lots of cute dogs and even saw a cyclist pop a wheelie! The streets were bursting with vendors, tourists, guides, backpackers, students, and so much more. Florence has such a diverse culture from the mix of all the tourists and locals so just walking around the city was a learning experience in and of itself. We all enjoyed our newfound independence and cannot wait for more free time in other cities.

Buona notte!
