Tired of going to the same church week after week? Wanting a better workout on your way to worship? Come to Assisi!

We have 29 active churches, and if they don’t suit your needs, feel free to renovate one of our 12 deconsecrated churches. After church, you can participate in our region’s favorite pastimes: Gioco del Cacio! Compete against fellow Umbrians in throwing cheese, but don’t expect to beat the local record; it’s legendairy. Then, work up a sweat by taking a trek through the dizzying streets of Assisi. With all this and more, who wouldn’t move to Assisi?

This morning, we rolled out of bed after a much needed night of sleep, wishing for more, but excited for the day to come. We began with a wonderful breakfast at our hotel with an amazing view out over the ancient walls into the stunning Italian valley. Our next event was a half-day tour of Assisi, which began with the Saint Francis Basilica. We marveled at the amazing frescos painted by several famous artists. One of the most interesting features of Saint Francis Basilica was that there were actually two! Although no one really knows the reason a new Basilica was built atop the original, our personal theory was that they didn’t have enough seating in all the churches of Assisi.

Lee Walker can fit through the Green Glass Door. But more importantly, he graced us with his wealth of wisdom this evening.  We spent two and a half hours talking with him about his life experiences, including his time as the first president of Dell. Then, he blessed us with his presence at dinner. After the pasta, when the main dish came out, we were all greatly amused–chicken nuggets and French fries.

Gelato.The end.
